Watertown Fire/Rescue is one of four hazardous materials response teams in South Dakota with guidelines set forth by the State and are required to respond to any incident where needed. WF/R Hazmat Response Team started in 2000 with 1 pickup and a small trailer with basic equipment and firefighters that were trained in basic hazmat operations. We have now grown to having 3 separate trailers, 1 with equipment for personal and decon supplies, 1 with equipment for containing spills and leaks, and confining leaks, and the third trailer has back up decon supplies and back up supplies for personal. All hazmat team members go thru rigorous training across the nation with some personal becoming specialized in certain areas of hazmat.

The team responds to all sorts of hazmat incidences ranging from anti-freeze spills to large factory and highway incidents. With the factories and companies in Watertown our team is ready, willing and able 24/7.
